I thought I would post this song just to compare and contrast modern salsa with old school salsa. And, I didn't hold back, either. Any of you who know me know that Sonora Carruseles is my favorite salsa group. I love their music. In fact, I'm only going to the SF Congress for one night... the night that they are playing.
And yet, despite all that, this video is not even watchable to me. De Una Vez Gozando is a SLAMMING song... it's one of those songs that you save for a HOT partner. But when I watch this video, all I want to do is merk the hoochie mamas they have trying to dance. Please. Just. Stop.
The soul of salsa is not defined by its sex appeal. But the sex appeal of salsa is definitely defined by its SOUL. We dont need half nekked chicks shaking it to rip a dance floor apart. All we need is a stage, a mic, and a little sabor. Que viva la salsa.
