Okay, time to start the updates again! The next two selections are courtesy of our good friend Kristof, who's taste in music is only surpassed by his heavy work load at school. Good looking out man! Enjoy, everyone :)

Big UPS going out to DECUADROSP again for the video submissions... you are the man! I really enjoyed the links, and I hope everyone else does as well. Keep em coming!

What a classic clip. I love how they take their time with this song... let it grow and develop at its own pace. They dont try to knock you out the box as soon as you step on the dance floor. They know they got you. They let it come. I also like the Rai flavor on that sax... Yuri Buenaventura took it to its logical conclusion when he came out with Salsa Rai, but this foreshadows nicely how those middle eastern flavors might fit with latin music. Wait till 2:35... thats when it goes down.

Another great video from decuadrosp! Do I really need to introduce it? You know the song title, you know the players... you KNOW its going to be hot. Enjoy!

And yet another video from Celia Cruz. Finding this stuff is like finding buried treasure. I had a hard day today, but when I listen to this stuff, it is impossible for me to feel anything but warmth and happiness. Thats why I love this music. Nothing else makes me feel like it.

Celia doesnt come in until about 41 seconds, but it is well worth the wait. I love to see footage of her when she was young and at the height of her powers. That voice... such power and feeling. Check it out.

Warning! Do not start listening to this at 1am like I am doing, or you are likely to start dancing around in front of your computer and waking up the family. Then again, I am a salsaholic. So, it's not really under my control. El Gran Combo... old school salsa video clips... kick back and relax. Part one of two.

Most of the little kiddies I see dancing at the club trying to be badasses never have even heard of el differente. And thats a tragedy, considering he was one of the best and most innovative singers of his time. Yeah, he got a little silly with some of his songs. But who cares? This man gifted us with some of the best and most interesting salsa ever laid down. His interpretations were always original, and his arrangements were not only fun but often challenging to dance to. At any rate, if you dont know, now you know. Angel Canales. El Diferente.
