Copyright suit against salsa singer dismissed

Willy Chirino has won a lawsuit that accused him of stealing his hit song Hechizo de Luna from two unknown songwriters.
U.S. District Court Judge Adalberto Jordan late Wednesday dismissed the copyright infringement suit filed by Jaime Felipe Linares and Jorge Luis Linares, Cuban-born brothers from Kendall who compose music as a sideline to their jobs as ornamental metalworkers.
''We think the judge absolutely got it right,'' said Chirino's lawyer Richard C. Wolfe, of Wolfe & Goldstein in Miami. ``Willy's very happy. He didn't steal or copy anything.''
