Hi, I'm Rob Capili, and I'm the editor of Salsa News. I created this site because I most of the news sites that I followed were too general. I was interested in keeping up to date on specific things within specific topics, and I wanted a service that could keep me up to date. Nothing like that existed, so I did what many of us are forced to do... visit dozens of sites per day just to stay up to date.

But between the blogs, aggregators, and news sites, it was starting to feel more like a job than a release. So I finally decided to do something about it. Using a combination of brains, brawn, and technical know how, me and my crack team of code monkeys crafted a brand new type of 24 hour news service focused specifically on locating and providing the latest information on topics we actually cared about.

Our goal was to focus on deep coverage of news in SPECIFIC NICHES. We had no interest in being Digg or Slashdot. Instead, we want to be the place where the hardcore people in a given field go to get their news. Depth, not breadth. For that reason, we only chose topics that we were passionate about, and we made sure that the content we placed in them was tightly grouped and meticulously monitored for quality.

Our technology is a closely held secret, but it allows us to file updates 24 hours a day from around the world. EVERY PIECE OF NEWS YOU SEE HERE HAS BEEN SELECTED BY A HUMAN EDITOR. So, if you happen to be up, come by and visit us. Someone will usually be here, happy to see you, and with something cool for you to look at. And - THIS IS IMPORTANT - if you have a niche that is NOT being covered by one of our services, PLEASE LET US KNOW!!! Why would we do that? Because here at Salsa News, we know that time is valuable. And, there is value in being able to get more of what you want, faster. If there is value for you, there will be value for others. And so, we hope to create a virtuous cycle that allows people to focuson their interests without having to waste their time.
